We are only a few weeks away from the beginning of a new school year, and we are sure that it has many great surprises for your children and, of course, plenty of hard work.
This summer is also a great opportunity to assess the school performance of your children. if it wasn’t the one you expected, there are many things you can do about it.
Having a space where your children can feel comfortable to study and do their homework is very important. If they don’t have it yet, at The Tutoring Center in Long Grove, we have a few ideas that can be helpful.
Find a Great Spot
If your children study on their beds, that may be a mistake - remember that their bed should always be associated with rest. Instead, try to find a place in your house where there are no distractions (T.V, music, pets etc) and that’s it’s well-lit.
A Matter of Style
A great desk and a comfortable chair are important, but you should also consider that the personality of your children plays an important role in their study habits. Different learning styles call for different settings, so make sure to observe how your children learn better.
Support your Children
It’s important that you are around while your children study, they may have questions and you can provide them guidance, although you should refrain from doing their work.. To avoid that they stand up constantly, make sure to provide them all the school supplies they need.
Keep it Organized
Encourage your children to keep their study space organized; remember it’s a work place, so it shouldn’t be spotless. Just remember that too much clutter can make difficult for them to find their material. Also, establish solid study rules; use a calendar to schedule the study session and use a timer if your children have problems focusing.
Another thing you can do to improve the academic achievement of your children is very simple: tutoring. Remember that The Tutoring Center has academic programs that will boost the academic skills of your children.
We offer a free diagnostic assessment to know the academic strengths and weaknesses of your children. That’s our starting point to provide the abilities and strategies
your children need to develop. Consider us, next time you are looking for tutoring in Long Grove.
