How to Use Technology to Learn a New Language
Encouraging your child to learn a new language can help them develop a great skill for their future. The world we live in is so highly connected that many jobs and careers now require knowledge of multiple languages. The Tutoring Center in Long Grove
has some fun tips
to help your child build on their foreign language skills outside of the classroom.
Turn on the Subtitles
Turning on foreign subtitles while watching a movie is a great way to encourage learning in your child. For example, if your child is learning Spanish, watch movies in Spanish and turn on the subtitles in Spanish. Watching foreign language movies encourages listening practice, but by turning on the subtitles you are also encouraging better comprehension. The subtitles will help your child understand the movie better while helping them practice the foreign language.
Set Your Devices to a New Language
Setting devices like your child's cell phone, laptop or tablet to the language they're learning will encourage them to practice it consistently. Having to learn to navigate their device in a new language will really push them to understand new words and commands. You can help by setting your GPS to the language they're learning and listening to directions in a new language.
